Carly Beckstead was born and raised in Kelowna, British Columbia. She developed an interest for the arts early on in her childhood. In 2005, by the age of 19, Carly moved to Vancouver to pursue her dream of becoming a professional make up artist. She earned her diploma in make-up artistry where she specialised in bridal, fashion, television and film make-up. After a couple of years in Vancouver, Carly and her husband moved back to her home town of Kelowna to build her career and start a family. By 2014, Carly, her husband and two children made a move to Saskatoon Saskatchewan. During a family trip to Ontario in the Summer of 2015, Carly was first introduced to the art of fusing. Taking a break from the make-up industry, Carly started working at a local art studio where she was fortunate to be reintroduced to fused glass. She quickly became immersed in the art and became the lead glass Instructor. By 2018 her passion for glass led her to purchase her own kiln and start her small business, Coastal Breeze Glassworks. In 2020 Carly began working at Prairie Glass in Humboldt and Saskatoon where she currently teaches fused glass classes. Carly attends many events and markets throughout the year showcasing her work. She draws inspiration from her home province of B.C, her family and the beauty of the prairies. She is always improving her skills and is eager to learn new techniques.
You can find Carly's work at Hen and Chick Studio and Handmade House in Saskatoon.
